Where are you from?: Eritrea, but born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan

Where do you live now?: Toronto, ON

What do you do for work?: Lifestyle, Beauty and Fashion Public Relations

What do you do for fulfillment?: Write

What is your dream creative project?: Create a fashion film of a diverse group of designers

Do you consider yourself a freshman, sophomore or senior in your field?: 50% freshman; 50% sophomore – in some aspects of my job I feel comfortable enough to guide others and mentor someone, but there are other concepts that I haven't quite grasped. I'm always learning, as the industry is always changing in PR, so you' can never know it all. I learn from industry people who are just starting off and vice versa – it's brilliant.

What can’t you leave the house without?: my phone, sad, but true

What's a typical day in the life for you?: Wake up at about 8:00am (after hitting the snooze button multiple times); turn on some Nick Hakim while I get ready; grab a smoothie at Nook; then in meetings, brainstorms, work mode until late. My job isn't the typical 9-5, so it really depends what projects I have on the go, but I'm usually working until about 8PM. My nights are always different, I'm either out with friends grabbing a bite to eat, writing at home or binge watching a show. It really depends how much energy I have left after my day.

What would your perfect 24 hours consist of?: Waking up in Costa Rica and riding a motorcycle down the Caribbean coast, hitting up all their beaches. I lived this life for only a week and can say it was probably one of the only times I was able to be present. It's hard to do that in a big and always on the go city like Toronto, but when you get a taste of that calm lifestyle you crave it.

Where's your favourite place to eat?: At my parents house eating my moms spicy veggie sandwich

Where's your favourite place to dance?: In the shower :)

Where's your favourite place to drink?: I really enjoy having friends over and drinking around my table, I find the pre-drink before a night out is my favourite part of any night. I've had some of the best conversations with friends around my table, there is something about getting ready with your friends and having some honest conversations or just liquid courage to tell all ahah.

Where's your favourite place to shop?: I use to have this idea that designer clothing was a must have, but as I started to explore and find what works for me I found the best clothing at Value Village, F as in Frank, Common Sort and my friend @bronwenjordan who is a stylist and always finds vintage gems for me.

Is there something you really want to do in your city that you haven't yet?: Take a break for a year/ two or drive around the city and just visit all the different neighbourhoods. I've been in this city for 9 years now and I feel like there is always something new to see. I'd dedicate a weekend and just hit up as many neighbourhood favourites as possible.

What are your go-to tunes for getting ready to leave the house in the morning?: Nick Hakim, Steve Lacey, Jorja Smith, Syd, Allan Rayman. Anything that makes me feel a sense of tranquility, I hate feeling anxious and rushed in the morning it throws me off for the entire day

What are your go-to tunes for exercising?: I don't work out, YET! but when I start (hoping soon haha) it would probably be some trap

What are your go-to tunes for going out for a night on the town?: I like to start off slow, usually play my morning play list with the artists I listed above and then progressively goes to like Tee Grizzley type of music – honestly my music matches how many drinks I've had.

What was your new years resolution?: I'm not the type to make resolutions, I always just have goals constantly in grained in my head. These act as daily reminders for me, especially if I'm feeling like I'm stuck in autopilot on all fronts of my life, these goals are triggers and a personal alarm to remind me why I'm doing what I do.

What do you think are the qualities of a life well lived?: Inner peace, a strong circle of women who inspire and support you, self awareness and being present. I personally am always thinking what happened in the past and how I could've fixed certain situations or thinking about tomorrow, next week, next month, but being present and focusing on what you truly have power over is such a rewarding feeling. I'm definitely not there yet, but it's something I'm trying to be conscious of. I want to be able to give a 100% to people I love and love me without worrying about things I have no control over.
